Savoury cheese and bacon muffins I may have a massive sweet tooth, but I am all about the savory breakfast. There is just something about starting your day with. Savoury Cheese muffins: Cheesy, buttery, garlicky and so moist, these taste like cheesy garlic bread!

Savoury cheese and bacon muffins step by step

  1. preheat oven at 190C / 375F/ Gas 5. Equipment needed: 4 x 150 ml (5fl oz) pudding moulds or ramekins..

These savoury muffins are a result of an experiment; I wanted to bake muffins, but had no butter in the house. My husband was thrilled with the result Dice the cooled bacon, mix with the fried shallots and cheeses and stir into the egg mixture. Add the flour mixture in two or three steps and stir briefly. What a great recipe--awesome idea to make a more savory breakfast muffin in place of the traditional sweet cake-like ones. I know this isn't exactly "healthy" (it's mostly flour not egg) but still it is a WONDERFUL.
